Since inception of Huduma Centres Initiative, Huduma centers have played a significant role in revolutionizing public service establishing a citizen-centric approach that improves the efficiency and effectiveness and accessibility of public services. They have become essential hubs for citizens to conveniently access a wide range of government services under one roof.
Huduma Center is a physical one-stop-shop service delivery point where customers can access multiple National and County Government Services without stress.
Kenya’s Huduma Centres are a symbol of transformational leadership. It has revolutionized Government service delivery in ways that puts Kenya ahead of some developed and other developing nations.
Huduma Kenya is now in the hands of this man – Benjamin Kai Chilumo whose corporate leadership and strategic insight is very key in driving its growth and greater success.

An accomplished Accountant, Mr. Ben Kai Chilumo has a wealth of experience in both public and private sector, spanning over 20 years. He took over from James Buyekane Muhati who has since been appointed Principal Secretary in President William Ruto’s government in charge of the State Department for Economic Planning. He hails from Kilifi County.
The first Huduma Centre Nairobi was launched in 2013 by former President Uhuru Kenyatta alongside then Deputy William Ruto at the Teleposta Building in Nairobi.
The implementation of this Programme has seen the establishment of over 50 Huduma Centers across the Country.
In May 2023 when CPA Ben Kai CHILUMO took over the leadership of Huduma Kenya as CEO, there were 52 Huduma Centers across the country. The number has since grown to 58 centers with the most recent huduma centre having been launched last Friday the 7th of February.
The 58 Huduma Centers are spread across all 47 counties offering self-service, in-person and assisted digital Government services.
It is also during the short time CPA Ben kai has been at the Helm of Huduma Kenya that a modern contact and tele-counseling centre was launched. This centre can be accessed by dialing 1919 for any government service support including tele-counseling services.
To improve the accessibility of public services, an ambitious plan has been outlined by Huduma Kenya to establish a huduma centre in each of the 314 sub-county headquarters in the next 5 years. This is possible under CPA Ben Kai’s Leadership at the Huduma Centre Secretariat.
On Friday 7, February 2025, while launching the 58th Huduma Centre in Kisumu west, Ojola, His Excellency the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya commended the milestone terming it as collaborative achievement between the Ministry of Interior and Huduma Kenya, demonstrating the power of partnership in making government services more accessible to all citizens.
“This Centre is a Testament to what we can achieve when we work together. By bringing services closer to the people, We are not only improving access, but also enhancing the quality of life for our citizens” Deputy President, Prof. Kithure Kindiki.
