Hon. George Kithi’s recent interview at Bahari FM was nothing short of a desperate attempt to rewrite history. His claims that Rt. Hon. Amason Jefwa Kingi was responsible for his 2022 gubernatorial loss are baseless, misleading, and a clear case of shifting blame.
Kingi not only provided Kithi with a political vehicle—Pamoja African Alliance (PAA)—but also actively mobilized his political network to support him. He urged his entire team to rally behind Kithi, and even the financiers who had supported Kingi threw their weight behind Kithi’s bid. Despite all this, Kithi failed to capture the seat, and now, instead of self-reflection, he seeks a scapegoat.
Beyond elections, PAA has continued to champion critical issues affecting the coastal region. Under Kingi’s leadership, the party played a key role in advocating for the reversal of port operations from Naivasha back to Mombasa—a major economic win for the region. Additionally, PAA has been vocal on the land injustices that have long plagued the Coast, pushing for sustainable solutions to land ownership disputes. These are real, tangible achievements, unlike Kithi’s empty lamentations.
Blame games will not change the past. Kithi should take responsibility for his political miscalculations instead of discrediting the very leader who gave him a chance in the political arena. His rants are nothing but hulabaloo, a distraction from his own failure to connect with the electorate.
